Gaslight starring Ingrid Bergman - A fundraising evening on behalf of Oasis Domestic Abuse Charity and The Astor Theatre

Oasis is delighted to introduce a screening of the classic 1940s psychological thriller Gaslight, starring Oscar winner Ingrid Bergman at the iconic Astor Theatre Deal.  

The evening will begin with an introduction to the film, highlighting its production, set design, and costumes, before the lights dim and the projector rolls. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Oasis’ Head of Domestic Abuse, Tina Alexander, for the audience to discuss the key themes of the film.

Hailed by the Hollywood Reporter as “extraordinary”, Gaslight is the American film adaptation of the 1938 play by Patrick Hamilton with the same name, in which a manipulative and conniving husband tries to convince his wife she is losing her mind by making her doubt her words, actions and memory. Fast-forward to today, and the term ‘gaslighting’ is used by many Oasis clients when describing the abuse tactics they endure from the person they should feel safest with.

The evening’s proceeds will support both The Astor Theatre and Oasis Domestic Abuse Service.
