Have you ever wondered why we learn HISTORY and not HER-STORY?

While the men of Deal were setting sail to fight battles, to rescue stranded mariners from the Goodwin Sands, to run smuggled goods from the seashore to safe hideouts, to hew coal out from the most difficult underground seams, what were the women of Deal doing?

How did they cope day to day with the threats of invasion by aggressive forces from the continent, with new religions that changed their traditional way of life, with the threat to their families welfare from unemployment and strikes, or from air raids by enemy planes?

In a collaborative production, the women of Deal will be bringing a drama to the Astor Theatre that will tell the hidden story of the lives of the Women of Deal, part imagined and part based on diaries and records - this will be Her-story!

All profit made from these performances will be donated to the Deal Museum.
