Women of Deal - A community play

Saturday 7th November at 3pm (doorss open  2.30pm) & 7.00pm (doors open 6.00pm) - Tickets adults £18.00, Under 25 & Universal Credit* £12.50

In an original collaborative production, the Women of Deal are bringing a drama to the Astor Theatre that tells the forgotten stories behind the lives of the women of Deal. Part drawn from letters and journals and part imagined - this will be their story.

While the men of Deal were setting sail to fight battles; to rescue stranded mariners from the Goodwin Sands; to run smuggled goods from the seashore to safe hideouts; to hew coal from the most difficult underground seams... what were the women doing? 

How did they cope, day-to-day, with the threats of invasion by aggressive forces from across the sea; with new religions that changed their traditional way of life; with the menace to their families' welfare from unemployment and strikes - or from air raids by enemy planes? 

The Women of Deal will be telling this hidden history of the women of Deal so come along and find out more!

All profit made from these performances will be donated to the Deal Museum.
