Nominated for a Bafta Award and Golden Globe, Franco Zeffirelli’s 1986 film of Verdi’s masterpiece, Otello, remains one of the finest cinematic films of an opera.

It stars Plácido Domingo as Otello and Katia Ricciarelli as Desdemona, with the orchestra and chorus of La Scala Milan conducted by Lorin Maazel.
